Lessons in Leadership from the Military
What can you learn about leadership from women in the military? How can their experiences help you excel in the business world? At this event, get rare insight on this topic from Captain Christina Alvarado, Nurse Corps, United States Navy, and deputy chief of staff, Navy Medicine East. Find out how the traits women develop while serving benefit them when they reenter the workforce—and learn how you can apply these experiences to your professional life.
Alvarado began her Navy Reserve career as a direct commissioned officer. She’s served active duty in support of operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Noble Eagle, and Enduring Freedom. She has held a variety of leadership positions, and she was recently selected for promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral (Lower Half).
Alvarado also has extensive experience in strategic health care planning at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and dedicated 10 years of service to our nation’s veterans on Capitol Hill. She was president and CEO of Be Active North Carolina, served active duty at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and founded CompassNC.
